Does apple cider vinegar help with weight loss or maintenance?

yes, when used properly. vinegar helps to reduce the glycemic response to a high carbohydrate meal. the rate at which a food item raises blood sugar levels is called the glycemic index (GI). when blood sugar rises to rapidly there is a related insulin response. Insulin is a storage hormone used to metabolize nutrients and in essence "push" them into skeletal muscle.

by decreasing the GI of a meal thus lowering the related insulin response the "potential" for fat storage from a high carb meal is decreased.

I really don’t think so, unless you use it as dressing instead of high calorie one. Apple cider vinegar is good for a lot of things; I even gargle with it when I have a sore throat and it works great. Maintaining weight isn’t one of the things it helps though.

Good Luck, I’ve always felt it was harder to maintain than to lose it in the first place.

Not one damn bit. Try this: look at any diet that push apple cider vinegar; each and every one will tell you to "exercise, and drink as much water as possible…" Look, do all that, and it will help — without the vinegar!

As for me, though, I have been losing about 3-5 lbs. a month for (believe it or not) about 18 months. Went from 365 down to today’s weigh-in weight of 255. Who likes slow-n-steady, though, eh? So, this month, I switched from lots of water to lots of GREEN TEA and aso Chromium Picolinate (200 mcg/day – 1 tablet). Hot, cold, whatever I feel like, and always with heaps of saccharin or aspartame (I have a relentless sweet-tooth but don’t want to consume calories!). Well, despite losing 100 lbs. by the end of 2006, I lost 10 lbs. this month (so far) — which, I am afraid to say, is heaps for me. So, I am thanking the GREEN TEA and CHROMIUM PICOLINATE tablets.
