Healthy meal plan for weight loss…?

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Here is a typical day of my eating. I feel it is very healthy but if you have suggestions to tweak to optimize results, it is greatly appreciated. Right of the bat I will say I believe in carbs, so low-carb diets are not for me. I am going to weight watchers and for my weight, these 31-32 points are appropriate. I will not eat less calories than this, just wondering if I should increase protein, veggies, fruits or anything.

Breakfast:
1 cup Strawberries (or other fruit)
1/2 cup plain fat free yogurt
1/2cup All Bran
2 Tbs Ground Flax
1 Tall Skinny Caramel Latte (my treat of the day =) )

Snack:
1 Fruit
High Fiber, 100 calorie Granola Bar

Lunch:
2 slices whole grain bread
3 oz lean meat
1 oz reduced fat cheese
lots of veggies
1 fruit

Snack:
2tbs hummus
carrot sticks
whole wheat pita

Dinner:
3-4 oz lean meat
Lots of veggies
1 cup whole wheat pasta or brown rice
1 cup of milk

eat all you want as long as its small in portion!!!!! so far its been working for me and i eat alot of outside food. i just need to limit my self

Can Apple cider vinegar really help weight loss? If yes how does one use it?

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

I just read a whole story on this in first magazine: You mix 1 tsp. Apple cider vinegar into a glass of water and drink it before each meal. It says that the acids in the vinegar reduce the speed at which the stomach empties, making you feel full longer. and because it keeps sugar and carbs from entering the bloodstream to quickly, it prevents the insulin spikes that trigger cravings. hope that helps, im gonna give it a try too.

How to build a well balanced meal plan for weight loss.?

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

I weigh approximately 170, I walk 3 miles atleast 5 days a week (48 min), 1 hr water aerobics twice a week, and strength training/cardio workout video 3 times a week. I want to build a meal plan but I want it to be very balanced with fat, protein, and carbs. I also want as little meat as possible, but eggs are ok! Does anyone have any suggestion also, in my nutrition textbook it gave a formula to figure out how your bmr and mine was 1659, so I figured to lose 1 lb a week I would have to eat 1159 calories a day, so how much of that should be fat? carbs? protein?

Thanks in advance!

At 170 and as active as you are, 1659 sounds a bit low. Perhaps it’s not counting for activity level? Try this one to see what you get:

Regardless, don’t drop below 1200 or you’ll send your body into starvation mode & it’ll try to hang onto the fat.

Aim for 40% carbs (veggies & whole grains), 40% proteins (chicken, fish, or steak… yeah, I know you said little meat, but these really are the best), & 20% fats (nuts, PB, etc). Even 50/30/20 works. Make sure you get a LOT of water too! Split your calories up into 5-6 small meals.

Is "Apple cider vinegar " helpful in weight loss? Side effects?

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

I want someone to give me a frist hand experince abt ACV and wt.Loss. Also a good receipe .

If you use apple cider vinegar make sure it’s organic and raw. Braggs makes a brand that is sold in the organic section of many grocery stores. It works in weight loss because it adds digestive enzymes to the body to help you digest foods. I put 2 teaspoons in a small glass of ice tea before dinner. You can take it once a day or with all 3 meals. Just remember to start out slow so your body gets used to it or you might have diarhea.

What is a good weight loss plan for someone that doesn't eat a lot of meat?

Monday, February 1st, 2010

What diet plan works best for someone who doesn’t eat a lot of meat?
I am trying to lose weight, but have very poor eating habits. I don’t have the money for a nutritionist, and also have to think of my kids and what they want to eat. I don’t like meat, and don’t eat it very often, which leads me to believe that I may be missing some important components(protein, and others) from my diet. I do take a multi-vitamin. I would like to start this ASAP. Does anyone know any websites that would give me diet/meal plans that are both kid friendly and healthy. It seems that all we eat are chicken nuggets, fish sticks,a nd pizza!

I am like you , in that I don’t like any red meat although I will eat turkey and chicken. My diet is eating lots of salads- which are very healthy and fortifying if you use the right ingredients. My favorite is grilled chicken strips, mushrooms, tomatoes and red onions over a bed of mixed greens. All of the necessary ingredients are there. To find good kid friendly web site to help you, I suggest you simply go to Google search with you information and I’m sure you’ll find something.

Has anyone heard of using Apple Cider Vinegar as a weight loss supplement?

Monday, February 1st, 2010

If so, how much do you take & how often?

I have heard of this and have tried it. You are supposed to take it with water before a meal and it’s supposed to curb your appetite. I don’t remember how much I took. I do remember the taste was AWFUL. And I don’t know if it helped. I was excited to find apple cider vinegar pills at a health food store. I’ve been taking one of those and also a garlic pill with a glass of water before lunch and supper. I read that garlic was supposed to help as well. I can’t say it is helping much. I seem to be lacking the will power to eat well. But that’s another story… Try the vinegar pills…it certainly can’t hurt.
Good luck.

The Most Effective Homeopathic Cures for Acid Reflux

Acid reflux is a condition that occurs when the lower esophageal sphincter opens up spontaneously, and as a result allows contents from the stomach to be able to make their way back up into the esophagus. When acid reflux occurs the person is usually able to taste food or fluid in the back of their mouth, and typically will experience discomfort or pain in their stomach and chest area.

Diagnosis is the first step in treating acid reflux, and so you will need to get in to see your doctor to get their opinion and for a proper diagnosis. Once you have been diagnosed your doctor will begin to discuss with you the various different treatment methods that you can choose from.

Homeopathic Cures for Acid Reflux

Of course there are the standard, more conventional methods of treatment for acid reflux, but there are also many homeopathic cures for acid reflux that you can choose to use. The first place you should start is with your diet and making any changes where necessary.

You should be eating as many fresh fruits and vegetables as you can, as well as whole grain breads and cereals and other foods that are high in fiber.

One of the best homeopathic cures for acid reflux is apple cider vinegar. Inexpensive and easy to take, apple cider vinegar is one of the oldest tricks in the book. It can also help with weight loss, constipation and heartburn.

Benefits

There are many benefits that are offered by the homeopathic cures for acid reflux. For one, because prescription medications can often have unwanted effects, people who want to avoid these unfavorable symptoms now have the option of using homeopathic cures for acid reflux which are side effect and symptom free.

If you are not sure which particular homeopathic remedy to try, speak to your doctor for more information or even better to a homeopathic medicine expert who will be able to discuss your options with you and, after completing a proper assessment, help you to decide which particular treatment they think would be the most successful.

Acid reflux can definitely be a serious and intensely painful condition, and often sufferers feel helpless because they try one method after the other and nothing seems to work. With homeopathic remedies you may actually have more luck than with the more conventional treatments, and not only that but you also will not have to deal with any unfavorable side effects.
