Thanks so much for …
Thanks so much for the info. I am not in week 6 of the vegan diet and feel wonderful. Infact, I don’t know if this is premature, but the pcos symptoms seem to be fading and my blood sugar has been normal without any major fluctuations for the last few weeks. Yay! I’m still trying to get the right balance of everything in, but hopefully it’ll come together for me soon.

Hey there …
Hey there creachhigher!
Being vegan should help quite a bit with PCOS. When you don’t have to deal with the hormones of other animals your body will be able to regulate its own hormones better. In regards to diabetes: Everything I have seen says get the fat out of your diet and your T2 diabetes will be fine. More than 10-15% fat in your diet interferes with normal blood sugar regulation. We humans are very adept at regulating blood sugar when we eat a low-fat whole food vegan diet.

I guess the …
I guess the confusion lies in the whole GI/Carbs thing for me because I have PCOS and T2 diabetes. I’m trying to figure out if I should be going about it the same or differently. My doctor tells me ok go ahead on the vegan diet and that the carbs don’t affect as much, but how much is too much?? I suppose that is the big question..

That is great you …
That is great you are feeling great and have been vegan for 5 weeks now.
In regards to your question: Before I can give you an adequate answer I should like to know why you are looking for low GI/Carbs. The reason I ask is that our bodies run best on carbs. We run into blood sugar problems when we combine sugar with fat. The fat inhibits the normal functioning of insulin and can lead to problems. My diet is mostly fruit and very little fat and my blood sugar is perfect. Hope this helps.

Hello Vibrant Vegan …
Hello Vibrant Vegan.
I have been eating vegan for 5 weeks now and I am feeling great physically and guilt free emotionally. I am just wondering if you have any ideas or materials to refer to for someone who would like low GI/Carbs on a vegan diet.
Thanks in advance.

Fantastic! That is …
Fantastic! That is awesome you are feeling so energetic and eating so well. Doesn’t it feel great to take care of yourself? When you are really nurturing yourself with healthy food you feel it(and you don’t need your adult nap as often.)
Way to go giving up the diet soda! That is a tough one for a lot of people. Very commendable.
Keep it up and let me know how you are doing.

smuwakil,
I am glad I helped you get a positive start to your day. When we start well the entire day seems better.
Congratulations on moving from animals to plants as your food. Make sure you eat whole foods and you will feel amazing. Watching videos like this and reading books like “The Face on Your Plate” are a great way to help you transition your diet. Remind yourself on a daily basis of all the positive reasons for becoming vegan and all the negative reasons for eating animals.
Best!
