In this segment from organic living TV with the Hippy Gourmet our Gastronaut and sustainability reporter Chris Nolder hops a ride on the Napa Valley Wine Train! As we wind our way through the majestic vineyards and rolling hills across Napa, California’s famed wine region, we meet up with Chef Kelly Macdonald in the restored 1915 Pullman coach kitchen! We feature a wonderful Yam & Goat Cheese Rellenos, Cabernet Beet Salad and some wonderful organic wine pairings! The Napa Wine Train is the definition of romance with an approachable elegance that harkens back to a simpler, more glorious time. The food is delicious, the wine is superb, and the staff make you feel like you’re on a fantastic European holiday. Organic Living TV gives the Napa Wine train a 5-star review!

Most of the time we …
Most of the time we feature recipes that can easily be adopted for vegan diets, but moreover we try to get the masses to eat healthier in general – that’s the purpose of our national TV series. That being said, we’re sure that the Napa Wine Train would happily accommodate a vegan raw request.

In the spring of ‘09 I rode my Russian built motorcycle with a sidecar through 30 states covering over 14,000 miles. One of the most beautiful areas of the entire trip was a stopover in Napa. Wish I’d known about this scenic train at the time.

A company I …
A company I occasionally do some work for (dosomethingdifferent-dot-com) used to organize international bookings for the Napa Valley wine train but had to let it go eventually due to lack of sales, such a shame. Scenic train journeys are fantastic, add wine and it’s a total win.
There’s a Yarra Valley winelands steam-train tour operating out of Melbourne called ‘Puffing Billy’ where you get free vegemite crackers (as well as wine tasting and stuff) though, that’s got to be awesome.
